I was born in Dubrovnik and ever since have been living there; Dubrovnik is an extremely interesting city in terms of weather. Located on the eastern coast of the Adriatic, with a Mediterranean climate, so it is often in the path of cyclones and other atmospheric instabilities. Due to the fact that these cyclones usually pass further north, it rarely snows in Dubrovnik, but that is why there the frequency of thunderstorms is among the highest in Croatia and in the wider areas. For instance, on average, in Dubrovnik falls more rain than in London, and at the same time there are more hours of sunshine per year than in London. This is the reason why here the atmospheric processes are turbulent and dynamic, so we can say that Dubrovnik is a sunny, but at the same time rainy city. For all of the aforementioned follows that it is difficult not to love Dubrovnik’s weather.
Atmospheric conditions have fascinated me since the earliest days now I’m able to remember. In elementary school, I often recorded weather conditions in various course works, wrote about them and drew them. Then I remembered that I should just record them with my camera. It didn’t take long for me to develop a love for photography and then link these two passions together. With my first SLR (Single-Lens Reflex) camera, which I got from my father, a Zenit TTL, I took pictures of clouds and waves. In 2004, again I began to take up photography more intensively with the purchase of my first digital camera, Olympus Mju 410, and then my first dSLR Olympus E-500. Shortly before that I’ve joined the newly opened meteorological forum Crometeo (2003), where along with my reports I also wanted to post my photos that finally led to an increasing need to learn more about photography. The Crometeo forum has grown rapidly, so in November of 2005 we took it all to a higher level, founding the Crometeo association. With our friends, photographers and storm chasers in Dubrovnik, we’ve initiated the Facebook group called Storm Chasers Dubrovnik, and then the association Storm Chasers Dubrovnik, through which we installed several wireless automatic weather stations in the Dubrovnik area.

In the meantime, I graduated on the topic of meteorological radars from the University of Dubrovnik, and I’ve earned a specialist certificate in digital photography and processing from the Algebra University College, and also has become a member of the Croatian Meteorological Society.
